• The Licking County Eagles Special Olympics organization is gearing up for another season! The athlete, parent or caregiver will need to attend the registration/sign up days for each individual sport. They are offering team bowling, individual bowling, swimming, and basketball, as well as track and field. The first registration time is for team bowling. Registration times are August 6 from 2 to 4 p.m., or August 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registrations are held in meeting room B at the downtown Newark Public Library, at the corner of West Main and South Fifth streets. Practice schedules will be provided at that time. • Excel Academy has announced it will offer a new Autism Spectrum Disorders Program beginning this academic school year. Excel says the ASD program will be a highly-structured, intensive, comprehensive program that is individually-planned and coordinated with the student, parents/guardians and IEP team. The program will serve students in grades K-12 (ages 5-22). It will include vocational and transition services, community collaborations and much more.
