  • It's not too late to register! The Zeune and Cole families of Pataskala are hosting a golf outing at Clover Valley Golf Club in Johnstown on August 13. All proceeds benefit the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities -- click here for the flyer with all the details!

  • The Licking County Eagles Special Olympics organization is gearing up for another season! The athlete, parent or caregiver will need to attend the registration/sign up days for each individual sport. They are offering team bowling, individual bowling, swimming, and basketball, as well as track and field. The first registration time is for team bowling. Registration times are August 6 from 2 to 4 p.m., or August 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registrations are held in meeting room B at the downtown Newark Public Library, at the corner of West Main and South Fifth streets. Practice schedules will be provided at that time. Here is the official nomination form.  Nominations for 3rd quarter 2011 are due by Sept. 20. Please turn in completed forms to Louise Decker, Director of Human Resources, at the E.S.   • Excel Academy has announced it will offer a new Autism Spectrum Disorders Program beginning this academic school year. Excel says the ASD program will be a highly-structured, intensive, comprehensive program that is individually-planned and coordinated with the student, parents/guardians and IEP team. The program will serve students in grades K-12 (ages 5-22). It will include vocational and transition services, community collaborations and much more.   • The public is invited to attend the SPARK Summer Festival and Studio SPARK grand opening on Friday, July 22, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. SPARK is located at 29 W. Church St., in downtwon Newark (in the old Steward Bros. building). We hope to see you there.

  • Ashley Johnson, coordinator of the Licking County Special Olympics team, needs volunteers in a variety of capacities. She is putting together an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at the downtown Newark Public Library.
